You may be wondering, what is a closed loop water system and how does it work? These units are also known as evaporative fluid coolers and they keep the system clean and contaminant-free in a closed loop. This being said, there is no contact between the air and the fluid being cooled.
You can see in this video that the tower has two separate fluid circuits. Each of them has there own fluid that flows through them. One has fluid that recirculates on the outside of the second circuit. The second current is made up of a bundle of tubes that hot water flows through.
Closed circuit cooling towers dissipate the heat by using their open circuit counterpart, which forces the evaporation of a minimal quantity of water and lowers the temperature of the main water mass.
