When someone is new to using an ortho splint, they may wonder how to use it. In her YouTube video, the subject demonstrates how to use an ortho splint. The video familiarizes new users with the splint.
What is an Ortho Splint?
The term “ortho” is short for the word “orthotic”; Orthotic devices for the mouth reduce an irregular tooth pattern. Those tooth patterns can cause pressure and pain in the jaw, known as “TMJ” (temporomandibular joint dysfunction). The ortho splint is made to move your teeth back to their correct place.
Vanessa showed us her ortho splint. It’s a clear mold that fits over her teeth. A dental lab made the mold by using a casting made by the dentist of her teeth. Vanessa let us know it’s essential to brush her teeth before applying the splint.
How to Apply the Ortho Splint
Vanessa continued her demonstration by revealing her dentist had instructed her to apply the splint one side at a time. She demonstrated how this works: snapping the mold over one side of her teeth and then snapping in the other. The mold snapped fully into place after Vanessa pressed down onto its middle. After using the splint for several months, she can now apply the mold in one motion.
